“Area residents will have the opportunity to hear celebrated pianist Teresa Walters, named as this year’s Schoenhals Guest Artist, in a performance at Whitlock Music Center. Her much anticipated recital takes place on October 16th in the James Wilson Recital Hall at Greenville College. The next day, Walters will offer a morning lecture for the community and an afternoon Masterclass for music students.

Teresa Walters is praised by Austrian National Television as “that rare musical phenomenon - one of the world’s most distinguished pianists.” The New York Times reviews her performance saying, “There was much to admire: The crashing octave runs were all right on the mark. Not a note was smudged in the pages of intricate passagework, and her conception had all the requisite sweep, power, and warm sonority.”

Her worldwide performances earn stunning headlines:
“Teresa Walters Plays Piano on Grand Scale” (The Cincinnati Inquirer)
“Her Hands Create Cascades of Luminescence” (The Washington Post)
“A Liszt of Very Fine Performances” (The Budapest Sun)
“Concert Extraordinaire” (Bucharest Stagiunea)
“Bright Shining Star in Recital” (El Norte, Mexico)
“Teresa Walters Holds Keys to Audience’s Hearts” (The Record)

In recent years, she has performed on six continents and in most of the 50 states. She is recognized as one of the finest interpreters of Liszt recording today. Two of her Liszt albums have been nominated for the Grand Prix du Disque. The American Record Guide has announced: “Her competition is virtually nil.”

The Schoenhals Fine Arts Symposium was established to invite fine artists of the highest caliber to enrich and educate the community through formal presentations, exhibitions and lectures, and through informal interaction.”
