"World-renowned concert pianist Teresa Walters will perform in concert at Harding University's Administration Auditorium at 7 PM Thursday, April 3, as part of the 2007-2008 Classical Lyceum Series. Her scheduled repertoire features pieces by various European composers from Germany, Italy, France, Hungary and Russia. Before playing each composition, she will speak briefly about the music, giving insight to each piece.
Walters is known for her commitment to music as the ultimate universal language. She is equally at home in the world's major concert halls or in campus and community settings. In recent years, Walters has performed as recitalist and orchestral soloist on six continents and in most of the 50 United States. Her performances in venues such as New York's Carnegie Hall, London's Wigmore Hall, the Salle Cortot in Paris, and the Great Hall of Moscow attest to her international fame. She has also performed at Vienna's Beethoven Festival and at Spanish music festivals in Barcelona and Madrid.
Walters is the first American pianist invited by Hungary to perform three prestigious European recitals honoring the anniversary of composer Franz Liszt's birthday. Her Liszt recordings have received nominations for the
Grand Prix du Disque of the Hungarian Liszt Society. Copies of her award-winning recordings will be on sale in the lobby before and after the concert. Walters will be available to sign CDs after her performance."
