"Teresa Walters, an internationally acclaimed pianist, will present a recital of works by Liszt, Beethoven and Gershwin at the Rialto Theater in downtown Loveland. Walters is represented by New York Management and her concert will be a benefit event for the continuing renovation of the historic Rialto Theater.
Considered to be one of the world's foremost pianists, her current concert tour includes venues throughout North and South America, Europe and Asia. She has been a recitalist at such concert halls as Carnegie Hall in New York, Wigmore Hall in London and the Great Hall of Moscow. Walters is regarded as one of the world's premier interpreters of works by Franz Liszt.
Her recent all-Liszt recital at New York's Lincoln Center earned her a standing ovation. Walters was the first American pianist invited to Hungary to perform the anniversary concert in honor of Liszt's birthday. She also performed at the Liszt Museum and Academy of Music in Budapest and at the composer's birthplace in Raiding, where the concert was televised by Austrian National Television. She gave a command performance at the Esterhazy Palace in Austria under the patronage of Prince Anton Esterhazy. When she performed in Hungary, the Budapest Sun wrote, "Teresa Walters takes the keyboard into orbit."
Teresa Walters is recording Liszt's sacred works for piano for Archangelus Records. The first two recordings in the series have been nominated for the Hungarian Liszt Society's Grand Prix du Disque.
Her recital at the Rialto Theater is titled "Composers as Patriots and Humanitarians". It will include Liszt's "Hungarian Fantasia" and "Canticle of the Sun of St. Francis of Assisi", Beethoven's "Seven Variations on a National Song", and George Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue".
