First Lady of Piano Performs in Texas “Internationally acclaimed classical pianist Teresa Walters brings her talents to San Antonio and Austin before embarking on a spring European tour that includes the Vatican in Rome. Her program entitled “500th Birthday Party: A Musical Celebration of the Reformation,” features works by Bach, Busoni, Liszt and St. Francis of Assisi and features her Keynote Comments to the audience. On Saturday, April 14 at 7 p.m., Walters performs for San Antonio’s Redeemer Concert Series. Austin’s Bethany Lutheran Church hosts her on Tuesday, April 17 at 7:30 p.m. Whether performing for European royalty at Esterhazy Palace or fundraising for children’s charities in Delhi, Teresa Walters is a musical ambassador in the U.S. and abroad. Describing her popular Musical Cameos Series, The New York Times announced “Teresa Walters has performed on six continents and has earned the highest praise, deserving to be in the top tier of piano soloists in the world. Aptly named ‘The International First Lady of Piano’ and overwhelmingly popular with audiences, she discusses the music in her engaging manner before she performs.” An International Steinway Artist, Walters has lived in the New York City area for most of her adult life. In a recent interview, Walters said that her priority with this special historical program is to make the concert experience both meaningful and inclusive. “My hope is to offer something of inspiration to everyone,” she noted. |
