"International First Lady of Piano Teresa Walters will dazzle and amaze as she shares her gift of music in her first concert appearance in La Jolla. The La Jolla Presbyterian Church’s Worship and Arts Concerts are known for showcasing exceptional talent, and the 52nd annual series lineup is no different.

The October 20 concert will feature Teresa Walters. "We are really thrilled to kick off this series with this extraordinary internationally renowned pianist,” said manager Ron Bolles. "The concert series was founded by some forward-thinking people and we’re just blessed to be able to continue that. We see music as a bridge to the community and a way for people to come onto our campus. We believe the arts give us a little glimpse of heaven.”

Walters is considered by many to be one of the top tier piano soloists in the world. She has performed as recitalist and orchestral soloist on six continents and in most of the U.S. venues including Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center in New York, Wigmore Hall in London, the Salle Cortot in Paris, Moscow’s Great Hall, Australia’s International Conservatorium and many more. She also recently released an album of works by Franz Liszt - an accomplishment that, Bolles said, is remarkable because Liszt was a great virtuoso with hands so large that many people cannot physically recreate his works.”

Carol Manifold, founder of the Choral Consortium of San Diego, isn’t a member of the church, but supports the series’ mission and volunteered to work with the church to organize the concerts. "This is great music, regardless of any connection to the church. These are guest artists who are all very professional."
