An Evening with Teresa Walters, International First Lady of Piano
“In a recital presented in partnership with the Historic Elsinore Theatre, Teresa Walters, Steinway Artist, performs an appealing and versatile program featuring Beethoven’s Sonata in C-sharp Minor, Op. 27, No. 3 “Moonlight”, Etude in E Major, Op. 10, No. 3 of Chopin, Romances by Robert and Clara Schumann, Deep River (transcribed by Samuel Coleridge-Taylor), Liszt’s Liebestraume in A-flat and Les Jeux d’Eaux a la Villa d’Este (Fountains at the Villa d’Este), and Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue. The Friday, September 27 performance at Salem’s Historic Elsinore Theatre begins at 7:30 PM. The Budapest Sun notes that you won’t want to miss seeing her fingers “give off sparks as she takes the keyboard into orbit.” A world-class entertainer, Walters is known as an artist blessed with the ability to truly communicate and connect with audiences. A true virtuoso, she holds audiences spellbound with her astonishing playing and visionary stage presence. A familiar face on the world’s greatest concert stages, she has performed in New York’s Carnegie Hall, Wigmore Hall in London, the Salle Cortot in Paris, and the Great Hall of Moscow. She earned her Doctorate from Peabody Conservatory and was awarded an international fellowship for a year of study abroad at the Paris Conservatoire.”
